As part of the Queensland Government’s reforms to the criminal justice system, the Government is expanding the Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct (SQCP) located near Gatton in the Lockyer Valley. The expansion will be delivered through an investment of more than $620 million to construct and operationally commission the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC) - Stage 2, that is expected to deliver approximately 1,000 beds for male prisoner by late 2023.

In this role you are responsible for leadership and direction in the delivery of financial management, project governance, financial analysis, strategies, technical advice and support services enabling the delivery of the outcomes from the SQCC – Stage 2 Construction and Commissioning Project.

    • In line with the organisation's vision to be a leader in good financial management practices and performance, the role will:
  • Lead the delivery of project accounting and financial analytical services to the SQCC - Stage 2 Project.
  • Manage the outcomes from a team of direct, shared, external and business unit resources in the delivery of project financial management and analytical services.
  • Project financial reporting, including the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, project costing, work-in-progress and KPI reporting.
  • Provision of financial analysis and support to project evaluations including monitoring over supplier and service delivery performance.
  • Lead the development of documented policy, procedure and internal control frameworks and staff training programs in relation to project accounting services to ensure consistent, high quality practices across SQCC - Stage 2.
  • Working closely with QCS business units, including facilities, finance, business implementation teams, service delivery functions and across outsourced service providers.
  • Manage the SQCC - Stage 2 project finance systems, with full responsibility over the financial management services including those delivered by external service providers.
  • Development of models, tools and templates to record and report upon the project's financial deliverables.
  • Design, implement and mature modern and effective financial governance and control practices which directly contribute to SQCC - Stage 2 project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the achievement of continuous improvement by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and is supported by the development and adherence to quality systems.
  • Provide creative and innovative approaches to financial management to enable SQCC - Stage 2 to maximise benefits to be derived from good financial management.
  • Be accountable to the SQCC - Stage 2 governance forums to implement and mature good financial management practices in alignment with SQCC - Stage 2 project deliverables.
