Reporting to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor could you be our next Structures Inspector….?

About the role

  • Reporting to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor, the Structures Inspector’s position is responsible for providing inspection, condition monitoring and reporting on all civil, structures and building assets to ensure timely identification of maintenance works.
  • While the role is based in Bendigo you will be operating in various regional locations, and are not expected to be stationed in Bendigo or living locally.
  • Other key tasks include providing specific advice to management on the condition of structure assets, preparing brief work scopes, updating the computer database for the recording of asset condition, and inspecting and noting any remedial works since last inspection.
  • This position is responsible for providing staff a safe work place where risks are identified, understood and managed and a safe environment for customers and visitors is maintained.

About you

  • To be successful in securing this role, you will preferably have a formal qualification in Cert II Rail Structures or equivalent, Cert III in Rail Structures or equivalent and relevant qualifications in Structures Inspections (as determined by the Senior Competency Specialist).
  • You will also have a Train Track Safeworking Level 3 would be highly desirable.
  • A trade background and a current competency in Falls from Heights and Confined Space entry would be highly desirable.
  • You must hold a current drivers licence as there will be a requirement to work away from home Monday to Friday and work day/afternoon or night shifts in various locations around Victoria on a regular basis.
  • You will also have extensive experience and demonstrated capability in bridge assessment, maintenance and construction and experience using an asset management information system.

The salary for this position will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Infrastructure Enterprise Agreement 2015-2019 IMW (TRACK) 2.5 - $41.0050 per hr. The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) check and medical check.
