The Crane Operator is responsible for operating the bridge/gantry overhead crane to pick up materials from the MPC floor pits and load materials on various processing lines

The job

• Operating gantry with orange peel grab attachment to feed a 300tph C&D recycling facility – each gantry crane is expected constantly to meet a production target of 150tph at a density of 0.35t/m3
• Operate and manoeuvre the overhead gantry crane skilfully and safely.
• Sort and pick materials via CCTV monitors and overhead cameras and load waste onto the feed hoppers
• Operate gantry cranes as per manufacturers guidelines.
• Strong ability to identify and segregate different waste types
• Identifying un-shreddable & non-conforming wastes, stockpiling in allocated areas
• Ability to blend & stockpile different waste types to ensure optimum plant throughput
• Complete pre-start, monitor and troubleshoot crane gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure the machine is in working order
• Display critical thinking using logic and reasoning to take corrective action or recommend improvements to increase efficiency in productivity, safety and communication.
• Display excellent communication skills over the two-way radio & face to face.
• Active listening to receive and follow specific directions and instructions
• Troubleshoot any operating errors and find solutions to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum
• Perform low-level maintenance of the machine, CCTV system and overhead cameras and raise faults or issues to the maintenance crew as required.
• Demonstrate effective time management skills, ensuring KPI’s and production targets are met
• Demonstrate a pro-active attitude with an eye for detail, and willingness to work together to complete required tasks

What you bring

• Current Crane License essential
• Dogman or rigging ticket
• Proven experience with an overhead gantry or bridge crane
• Sound ability to read, write and speak English, communicate via a two-way radio and in person.
• Great attitude and work ethic
