Seeking a Field Service Engineer to work on scientific equipment across all of Victoria & Tasmania

Your new company
This organisation is on the cutting-edge of innovation, supplying world renowned scientific equipment and medical devices predominately in the research, clinical, university, hospital and diagnostic sectors. Their instruments enable scientific breakthrough to be realised alongside the diagnosis of medical problems. They have recently developed a new Healthcare Business unit and are growing their sales teams internally.

Your new role
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you are responsible for the installation and maintenance of cutting-edge advanced microscopy systems (confocal, multiphoton, super resolution) as well as carry out regular service jobs for general microscopes. You will be required to work closely with sales and customer service team to deliver top-notch customer experience and represent the brand in Australia.

Key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Assemble microscope systems; calibrate and adjust laser fixtures and lasers.
  • Define and install software applications.
  • Integrate computers to allow both application specific visual data output and recording.
  • Perform on-site repairs at customer facilities.
  • Travel to field installations, as needed or necessary.
  • Unpack and assemble microscope components and repack for shipment.
    • Complete and submit Field Service Reports, Preventative Maintenance and other reports as required.
    • Manage consignments, stocktake of service tools and spare parts, and generate relevant reports as required.
    • Assist with installations for sales demonstrations.
    • Communicate, troubleshoot and solve any service-related problems with customers or sales personnel.
    • Develop and maintain exceptional technical and product knowledge through self-development, company product training and on the job training and experience gained on more challenging assignments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Considerable experience with microscopes or laser.
  • Familiarity with opto-electrical system construction, assembly, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and software.
  • The ability to travel extensively in the assigned territory - with some overnight travel required.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, training and events as required.
