About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Workshop Manager to join the team at the Lajamanu site. This position will see you inspecting and repairing vehicles, machinery, and light trucks as well as overseeing maintenance inspections, monitoring inventory and liaising with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure work is delivered on time to a quality standard.

This full time position is based in Lajamanu, Northern Territory
 
Responsibilities

  • Undertake mechanical workshop duties
  • Supervise staff and trainees
  • Perform and report on Diagnostic data
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts as required
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Identify client’s needs and explain/demonstrate ALPA’s services to them, which may involve technical descriptions of products and the way they may be used.
  • Completing routine tasks, Mechanical repairs, but not limited to; engine tune-ups, oil changes, tyre rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
  • Promote a Health and Safety culture within the business.
  • Other adhoc tasks as directed by the Area Manager
 
Skills and Experience
  • Trade qualification of Light Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a workshop setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management
  • Ability to work on a wide array of makes and models
  • Experience working with petrol and diesel motors highly regarded
  • An understanding of the complexity of Indigenous community dynamics, including the social and economic circumstances faced by many Indigenous people and communities
  • Hold a current NT drivers licence or have the ability to obtain
  • Ability to obtain an Approved Inspection Licences from the Motor Vehicle Registry
