Busways is the largest Australian private bus company, committed to providing safe, reliable bus services. We are currently looking for a self-motivated individual to join our growing Maintenance team as a Diesel Mechanic at our Lonsdale depot.

The Opportunity

Heavy vehicle experience is preferred but not necessary as we are willing to train and develop the right individual for the position.

The Job

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this role requires you to have a mature and professional approach with excellent communication skills. Your main duties will include:

  • Diagnosing, inspecting, reconditioning, repairing, assembling the fleet and ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are followed at all times.
  • Maintaining all company vehicles and assets in accordance with Manufacturer's guidelines
  • Ensuring all maintenance work is performed according to company procedures
  • Attend breakdowns and carry out any field related mechanical repairs
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate any safety or maintenance issues
  • Adhering to all Work, Health & Safety requirements whilst performing work duties
  • Maintaining clean workshop practices on a daily basis

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic - you should have completed either a Certificate III in light vehicle or heavy commercial vehicle technology
  • Strong experience in the service and maintenance of heavy diesel products, including engine overhauls, major repairs including electrical, hydraulic and diagnostic skills (where your experience might not be as strong across all areas, we would be happy to provide training to assist you in developing these skills).
  • Must hold a valid SA driver's licence as well as a HR/MR licence classification
  • Strong focus on safety in the workplace
  • Can-do attitude with a drive to exceed
