JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking casual cool room / forklift operators for immediate start to assist in the day-to-day operation of our berry harvest. Our harvest season will continue to the end of May early June.

Our Berry Farm is located at Red Hills Tasmania 40 minutes from Launceston and 40 minutes from Devonport.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • To be physically fit.
  • To be self-motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • To be able to respect and implement instructions in an efficient and timely manner.
  • A willingness to work in all weather conditions from hot and dry to wet and muddy.
  • To be flexible and available to start work from 6.30am to various finishing times.
  • Experience and confidence in the operation of a forklift.
  • Willingness to undertake training in the use of handheld mobile scanner program.
  • Your own method of transport and accommodation
  • A tax file number and if applicable a valid Visa to work in Australia. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklift and company utility vehicles to manage and transport produce and supplies.
  • Conduct daily forklift start up inspection.
  • Transport and maintain adequate levels of empty pallets, berry trays and packaging to and from harvest area.
  • Assist harvesting team in collection and conduct quality assurance checks of berries when required.
  • Routinely clean up empty cartons and rubbish throughout the course of the day.
  • Collect, stack, and prepare berry trays on pallets and transport to the cool room.
  • Scan, and record tray information as required.
  • Store and prepare berry pallets in the cool room ready for transport.
  • Maintain daily cleaning requirements as outlined in company standard operating procedures and COVID-19 Policies.

Licences and Qualifications:

  • Current Forklift Licence
  • Current drivers licence to operate motor vehicle.

Employment is on a casual basis paid under the Horticultural Award 2020. You will be placed on a rotating 4 day per week roster where you will be required to work one weekend day each week.

This is a seasonal position, and it is anticipated that you will work approximately a 25 to 30 hour week.

You will be required to attend an onsite induction prior to commencing employment.
