  • Remuneration for Academic Level B ($98,495 - $116,965) + 17% superannuation

About You and the Role

You will responsible:

  • Evidence and hands-on experience and record in conducting research in CFD and FSI aero/hydrodynamic modelling, and computational modelling, simulation and system identification tools;
  • Perform high-impact engineering research and development activities through the numerical simulation and analysis of aeroelastic systems applied to aerospace/maritime platforms, in support of activities sponsored by the Australian Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group, Maritime and Aerospace Divisions;
  • Carry out research project in the areas associated with computational aero/hydrodynamics and FSI, and provide research guidance to postgraduate students and other research fellows associated within this area of research;
  • Contribute and collaborate with national and international researchers, particularly focussing on linkages with industries in the aerospace and naval sector and US laboratories including AFRL, ONR, and NRL;
  • Be actively involved in the project management of the research as well as contribute and deliver impactful research outcomes & reports that are relevant to the funding body
  • Prepare and publish high quality articles in high impact journals in line RMIT’s intellectual property obligations set out in the primary contract for the projects;
  • Contribute 10% of your time to mentor & supervise postgraduate students and participate in learning program activities appropriate to areas of expertise as well as administrative functions related to the research project.

You will have:

  • An emerging track records in publishing high-quality journal articles and conferences, and/or research project reports, in research areas relevant to this area;
  • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) research concepts and knowledge through demonstrated high-quality technical reports and presentational skills;
  • High-level of focus, as well as strong organisational and analytical skills, equipped with ability to identify ways to perform experimental procedures successfully within a team environment in collaboration with industry and/or other relevant stakeholders;
  • Experience in co-supervising postgraduate by research students with ability to teach and/or mentor in the relevant areas of expertise.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent experience in the field related to Aerospace Engineering.

Desirable: Candidates with hands-on experience or expertise in CFD and FSI aero/hydrodynamic modelling, and computational modelling, simulation and system identification tools are encouraged to apply.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
