The MM Group is a collection of highly respected electrical engineering consultancy firms that offer clients support in the life cycle management of HV electrical assets (motors, generators, switchgear, cables, transformers & auxiliary equipment). Subsidiaries include Machinemonitor Pty Ltd and TxMonitor Pty Ltd.


Our head office is in Newcastle NSW Australia, with offices in Brisbane, Darwin, Perth and Hamilton NZ. MM Group have undertaken consulting projects widely across New Zealand & Australia and has completed numerous projects in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, South Africa and USA.


We are looking for a an experienced Field Service Engineer in Transformers to join our Australian operations, with the position based in Perth. Ideally the successful candidate will be currently living in Perth.


About the role

The successful candidate will perform onsite routine and diagnostic HV electrical tests across various industrial sites throughout Australasia. Candidates will hold an Electrical License or Electrical Degree and preferably will have at least 5 years practical experience in Transformer Maintenance & HV testing and associated range of asset classes (Rotating machines, cables, switchgear)


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform HV electrical testing in the field across all HV assets specialising in Transformers. Testing experience in generators, motors, cables and switchgear is desirable
  • Perform Analysis of Oil tests such as Oil Quality, Furans, DGA and other special tests and recommend the action to be taken, as and when required is desirable
  • Strict adherence to existing testing procedures and processes
  • Undertake project planning tasks, including rigorous job planning and QHSE risk management
  • Record test results on the relevant test certificates and compile test reports
  • Liaise with client representatives


Skills and experience:

  • Current Electrical licence or Electrical Engineering degree
  • Preference to experience in HV testing and electrical condition monitoring on industrial sites
  • Preference to experience using industry-standard HV testing equipment
  • Preference to experience in preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance techniques for electrical assets
  • Preference to experience in Omicron and Doble testing equipment
  • Strong computer & communication skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook essential)
  • Ability to work both autonomously & as part of a team
  • Excellent spoken & written English including spelling & punctuation
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Infallible focus on QHSE
