Operating for over half a century, our client is an well-respected global leader in the construction industry. They manufacture, distribute and hire a range of equipment with applications in residential, commercial, mining and industrial projects. Thanks to their continued success, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to join the Perth team, managing client relationships across WA.

Your new role
As Business Development Manager, you will report to the Sales Manager, and have responsibility for developing relationships, identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, closing sales and increasing market share across WA with an existing client portfolio and target accounts. Engaging with clients from operational to senior management levels, including commercial and technical contacts, you will have all the resources needed to support you, including colleagues with over 40 years' industry experience including R&D, engineering, marketing, internal sales, and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing sales growth plans and strategies to grow revenue and profit
  • Targeting mid to large level project sales opportunities in a multi-tier sales process across construction, mining and industrial sectors
  • Maintaining and building a contact network, developing and strengthening customer relationships and implementing visit cycles to maximise client relationships
  • Following up on all proposals in a timely manner with the customer and/or the respective agent ensuring CRM data is accurately maintained and kept up to date for forecasting purposes
  • Achieving KPI's around activity and revenue
  • Preparation of sales reports for management

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an autonomous, technically minded Business Development Manager with a background in securing project sales in the construction sector. You will have a background selling equipment or services in a multi-tier sales process dealing with engineers, main contractors, sub-contractors and end users. Experience developing project revenue in one or more of the target sectors which include residential construction, commercial construction, mining and industrial is essential. Full product training will be provided.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated results in business development
  • Proven track record of meeting revenue targets
  • Experience in project sales within construction, mining or industrial sectors
  • Expertise in managing commercial relationships with new and existing clients
  • Previous experience using CRM systems


  • Experience / Tertiary Qualifications in engineering or construction
  • Ability to read plans and technical drawings
