Job Description

ROLE SNAP SHOT!

Due to a growing client base, we are seeking a Building Construction Survey Manager who has experience and is passionate about Project and Unit Management, Field work and Business Development.

If you want full project delivery accountabilities and are motivated by the prospect of growing a team within a well-established organisation, enjoy building relationships whilst dealing with a wide variety of clients including Universities, Residential developers, and government authorities we would love to hear from you. 

You will most likely have a Building Construction survey background and want to continue working on site whilst growing your team and sourcing and scoping new project opportunities. You will love a challenge and understand and appreciate the time pressures associated within the construction industry. You will be more than capable of being able to deliver accurate work within tight time frames, enjoying the fast-paced nature of the industry, taking satisfaction on delivering a quality end product. 

The Projects that you will work on will include low to medium rise utilities buildings and residential works, such as 200 apartments and a retirement home of up to 4 stories in height. Your strong communication and relationship building skills and experience will be well utilised as well as an ability to being adaptable to differing situations and requirements responding to and meeting a client’s needs.

Initially, you will be based in the field, however as you build the Unit and projects increase you will progress towards a role that is more office based.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE!

  • Project Management: Liaising with clients to determine full scope of works, coordinating fee proposals and tender submissions. Consulting with internal stakeholders, Engineers, site foremen, government authorities and undertaking site visits as required.
  • Field Work: Undertake fundamental field tasks such as use of GPS and Total Station, establishment of control networks and completion of a range of building construction and civil surveys, including but not limited to Set-out surveys and As-constructed surveys.
  • Unit Management: Work with the GM regarding Unit objectives, productivity targets, budgets, oversee weekly field activity, growth strategies, people management and recruitment.
  • Business Development: Work with the GM to identify and research market opportunities and represent Taylors at industry events.

OUR IDEAL PERSON!

  • Bachelor of Surveying / Geomatics Engineering or equivalent;
  • Extensive experience in a similar role within the building construction survey industry;
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in survey software packages;
  • Thorough technical knowledge of surveying and drafting practices, particularly within field of Building / Construction Surveys;
  • Experience in delivering high precision Setout works for low to medium rise construction projects (desirable);
  • Experience in completing costings, fee proposals and tenders;
  • Sound mathematical and data interpretation skills;
  • Ability to be responsive to changing priorities and requirements;
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
