Charters Towers Regional Council is looking for a qualified fitter with demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience associated with the maintenance, repair and updates of water and sewerage plant and equipment.


This position is required to undertake maintenance and improvement work on Charters Towers Regional Council assets. This includes assisting the Leading Hand Fitter by proactively implementing processes, procedures, and systems in the delivery of section initiatives and establishment of technical standards.

Employment Status: Full Time, Permanent

Award: C10 - C8 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream C) Award – State 2017, depending on qualifications and experience

Salary Range: $2,359.80 - $2,517.80 gross per fortnight.


| Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |

  • Relevant knowledge, skills and experience associated with maintenance, repair or upgrading work on water and sewerage plant and equipment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to assist with work priorities.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Problem solving skills and initiative to resolve operational and maintenance issues.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and control equipment typically used in municipal water supply and sewerage industry.

| Essential Education/Qualifications |

  • Trade certificate Fitting/Turning or other relevant trade industry qualifications.
  • General Safety Induction Certificate (Construction Industry) “Blue/White Card”.

| Essential Licences |

  • Possession and maintenance of a current Queensland ‘LR’ Class Driver Licence or ability to obtain.
