Shoalhaven City Council is currently seeking an Open Spaces Asset Co-ordinator to join our Assets Unit.

About the role

This is a full-time permanent position, Monday to Friday (35 hours per week). Located a Bomaderry Works Depot.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


Reporting directly to the Assets Team Lead, the focus of this position is to:

  • Prepare and refine routine, seasonal maintenance schedules, work programs and asset management programs.
  • Manage the Asset databases for Parks & Reserves, Playgrounds and Asset Protection Zones.
  • Review and regularly update the Parks & Reserves Asset Management Plans and associated Plans and documents.
  • Review and regularly update the Asset Infrastructure Replacement Program for Parks & Reserves.
  • Support Parks Programmes Officer in promotion of Parkcare groups by assisting with resources, management plans, technical advice, and implementation of Council systems.
  • Manage and co-ordinate contracts. For example, with voluntary organisations and for Asset Protection Zones.

Skills & Experience

  • In Tertiary qualifications (Diploma or above) in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscape Architecture or a relevant Natural Science.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the provision of routine maintenance activities with a focus on Parks and Facilities.
  • Experience in Parks and Open Spaces Management.
  • Experience in developing an Operations Plan for Open Space Management activities.
  • Level 1-3 Playground Comprehensive Inspector qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current NSW General Construction Induction card (white card) or acceptable interstate alternative.
  • Minimum NSW Class C driver’s licence or equivalent licence valid in NSW
  • An understanding of Asset Management and maintenance of Parks & Facilities.
  • Experience in maintenance management including programming, scheduling, etc.
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in the preparation of correspondence and report writing.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and the application of environmental standards
