Naval Group Australia (NGA) is seeking a Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) Procurement Manager - Operations to join the Future Submarine program. The largest and most ambitious defence acquisition program Australia has ever undertaken. Professional challenges don’t come any bigger than this.

As part of the wider SCY team, this position will involve sourcing and selecting suppliers, leading a team of professionals, and negotiating equipment, operational and service subcontracts for the SCY.


More specifically, the SCY Procurement Manager - Operations will:

  • Develop the supplier management processes and procedures for operational suppliers.
  • Support the development of equipment procurement strategies.
  • Actively manage operational suppliers to meet complex program deliverables and milestones.
  • Build and effectively lead an operational procurement team.


To be successful in this position, the role suits a candidate that has:

  • A degree in business, commerce or engineering.
  • Extensive experience in a senior technical commercial or procurement role, ideally in an engineering, defence or other complex industry.
  • Experience of commercial management within major projects, with direct responsibility for delivery of subcontracted outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical, prioritization, relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional ability to positively influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Adaptability, resilience and emotional intelligence for success in a dynamic, evolving environment.
