About the Position

City of Gold Coast is about to commence a $70m expansion of the City’s recycled water network that will include design, construction and commissioning of new pipelines, reservoirs and pump stations across the City. When completed, this recycled water network will be divided into six supply zones across the City, supplying Class A recycled water from the Pimpama and Merrimac Sewage Treatment Plants.

The Senior Construction Supervisor will be a key member of the team who will ensure day to day supervision of construction and contract administration of the project.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure the works are constructed in accordance with state safety and environmental legislation;
  • Ensure the works are constructed in accordance with the project specifications and the Preliminary Design;
  • Respond to Contractor technical queries and requests for information;
  • Witness key construction activities to ensure a high quality outcome is achieved;
  • Ensure all key stakeholders (internal and external) are consulted during construction should the contractor propose any changes to the works;
  • Assist the Program Manager to develop accurate project status reporting, including forecasting expenditure and timelines, and ensure that scope, financial and timeline variations are managed in accordance with the City's expectations;
  • Assist the Program Manager, particularly from a technical perspective, in the commercial/contract management of the works; and
  • Assist with the contract administration process, including correspondence and handover coordination, and liaison with all stakeholders.

About You

You will have a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the delivery of conventional water/or sewerage infrastructure, or a combination of substantial contract administration experience, together with knowledge and expertise in specialised methods used in the delivery of water/or sewerage infrastructure. Ideally you would have been involved in delivering pipeline projects (including via trenchless methods), working for a Principal Contractor and you are now looking to make a move and experience project delivery from the client’s perspective, on Queensland’s Gold Coast. 

You are someone who can/has:

  • Plan and organise self and others to ensure the timely completion of tasks;
  • Deliver high quality service to internal and external customers and understands, and reacts responsively to customer expectations;
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution;
  • An ability to perform effectively in a team environment and foster good relationships as part of a high performing team;
  • An ability to prioritise problems, think laterally, gather and analyse information to identify symptoms and causes, and engage the right people to reach better outcomes;
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety from both a leadership and personal perspective;
  • Previous experience with trenchless methods of pipeline construction;
  • A current driver's licence; and,
  • Construction Safety Card - White Card.

About Asset Solutions

As part of the City of Gold Coast (COGC) Water and Waste (WW) Directorate, the Asset Solutions Branch works in close liaison with our Service Sustainability Branch to design and develop infrastructure based on business needs to meet community growth, and asset renewal requirements, and with the Network Reliability and System Control Branches to meet operational improvement objectives.

Asset Solutions is responsible for the design, construction and acceptance of assets to ensure a sufficient and continuous supply of safe and reliable drinking water and recycled water to meet the communities needs and expectations. The Asset Solutions Branch is also responsible for the design, construction and acceptance of assets to ensure the safe collection, treatment, disposal and reuse of wastewater (and residues) for the protection of human health and safety.
