JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of the Role:

  • Provide engineering and management support for ongoing and new operations by managing steel structures / manufacturing / piping fabrication.
  • Produce estimates for all new works you will be in responsible for job's quoting, material ordering, fabrication and delivery process
  • To ensure production tasks are performed efficiently, effectively and in accordance with quality and productivity objectives.

Scope:

The Workshop Manager & Estimator reports to the Managing Director and Director, and is responsible for operational procedures in workshop to meet deadlines, sales targets, profit targets, allocate jobs to the appropriate personnel, working within budgets and scope of works, ensuring quality outcomes and oversee of workshop processes such as maintenance of machines, ensure safe and clean work environment. The Workshop Estimator and Supervisor will produce all estimates for all new tenders, contracts, projects and have excellent ability and knowledge in estimating, detailing, ordering steel, processing, welding, painting /galvanizing, QA, loading, transporting, lifting and installation is essential. As part of management team, you will also be jointly responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company's strategic targets and management systems.

Main Duties:

  • Ensuring that jobs are manufactured correctly, cost effectively and delivered on time in accordance to customer build specification and quality requirements.
  • Communicating with all the relevant people / dpts and co-ordinating all relevant inputs (people, plant and processes) to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved working with the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Planning, scheduling and reviewing workload to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved cost effectively.
  • Work with company's contractor to oversee the production of drawings, designs, specification advice to suit customer needs
  • Producing estimates for clients for all new work / projects – estimating materials and labour
  • Source price and procure materials and fittings for all jobs
  • Ensuring that the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, plant and tooling required to achieve production targets.
  • Managing the Purchasing function / dpt to ensure material is purchased cost effectively and available for production when required.
  • Producing drawings to client specifications using AutoCAD or similar programme (desirable but not essential)
  • Managing the Inventory function /stock control to ensure raw material and product is receipted, located, stored and transferred correctly and that the company's stock inventory is accurate (Workshop Supervisor job needs to only be overseen)
  • Source new work to ensure monthly sales targets are achieved
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practice
