The About

Are you seeking a supervisory career opportunity where you get to be home every night, working in your area of expertise around road/drainage construction, maintenance, and other associated works in local government?

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader Drainage for their locality in the inner eastern suburbs of Perth.

The Opportunity

Responsible for the organisation of the Drainage Crew in the provision of stormwater drainage construction, maintenance and other associated works throughout the City in accordance with agreed performance targets, you will ensure the Crew provides effective and efficient day-to-day drainage construction, maintenance and associated works in a professional manner using proven techniques, to achieve required standards.

The Responsibilities

Oversee various aspects of drainage work including -

  • Stormwater drainage pipe setting and manhole construction
  • Construction of stormwater openings including gully grates, side entries and combination side entries
  • Set up daily, the laser and grade for pipe settings and ability to achieve levels set by Construction Surveyor
  • Compaction of base materials to required standards

Your Experience

  • Supervising and leading a crew of maintenance and construction employees
  • Ensure staff training and performance needs are met
  • Monitor and ensure all plant and equipment is operated in accordance with the Chain of Responsibility legislation and current Load Restraint guide
  • Monitor the operation of machinery
  • Liaise effectively with members of the public
  • Ensure Traffic Management operations are conducted safely and in accordance with Australian Standards and the Code of Practice
  • Carry out other duties within the scope and level for this position
  • Demonstrate your ability and commitment to a safe working environment
  • The ability to work autonomously and equally as well as within a team environment


The Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold the appropriate right to work in Australia
  • Previous experience in drainage construction with thorough knowledge of industry standards and maintenance practices
  • Good understanding of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2021 and Road Traffic (Administration) Act 2008
  • Possess a valid WA HR driver licence
  • Basic Traffic Management accreditation (or willing to obtain)
  • Hold a current Construction Industry White Card
  • Hold a current Confined Space and Gas Testing accreditation
  • Possess a current Senior First Aid certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Have or the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance certificate (not more than 12 months old)
