JOB DESCRIPTION

Construction Manager required for a residential builder/developer in Sydney.

Construction Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and directing construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Accountability for managing and delivering the operational performance of large and complex project.
  • Capability for resource planning, client relations, employee performance, sub-contractors, cost, quality, safety & environmental performance.
  • Forward planning, scheduling and organising of site labour, plant, equipment and materials to meet program and budget.
  • Proactive management of safety performance, identification of risk and ensure safe work practices are adopted and supported with training.
  • Conduct and document safety pre starts, toolbox talks and inspections to the expected frequency.
  • Monitor site productivity and labour efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain good client relationships, proactively solve problems, provide solutions and promote additional services and products.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers on technical, constructability and feasibility matters.
  • Performance leadership for direct reports and sub-contractors.
  • The ability to scope, prepare and manage sub-contractor and supplier packages.
  • Ability to perform cost control, programming and forecasting activities.
  • Strong acumen and capability with contract administration and commercial issues.
  • Producing and maintaining programs and schedules to ensure the project runs on time

Key Skills Required–
  • Good knowledge of building methods and regulations. At least 10 years of experience as a Site Manager within the building industry.
  • Ability to obtain Construction Certificates
  • Sound knowledge of construction methodologies and site coordination.
  • Excellent understanding of WHS Compliance and safety and quality standards.
  • A tertiary qualification in construction management or similar.
  • Australian experience is essential.

  • Network of Trade Contractors and experience dealing with Consultants
  • Problem-solving skills and Decision-making ability.
  • Manage, mentor and coach project team, including performance management.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
  • Commercial awareness.
