GOUGH are working with a well-established and reputable Builder/ Developer, with a strong presence within the Queensland and New South Wales market. Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their business and help strengthen their existing finance team. 

The role:

  • Review of EOM reports and Profit and Loss statements for each job to maintain profitability.
  • Monitoring build costs and margins in conjunction with the Director and Construction Manager.
  • Monitoring FY revenue for QBCC compliance.
  • Strategic corporate structuring to maximise tax benefits and minimise operational costs.
  • Cash flow forecasting to maintain adequate working capital.
  • Preparation of documentation for NSW Warranty Insurance compliance and periodic reviews.
  • Preparation and collating of documentation for annual renewal of 'all-risk' builder’s insurance.
  • Preparation and collating of documentation for renewal of Work Cover premium.
  • Daily finance reporting to include: AP and AR totals, cash at bank balance, and weekly forecast of upcoming progress claims.
  • Weekly and monthly forecasting and monitoring of progress claims and approval of accounts payable
  • Annual taxation planning in conjunction with company accountant.
  • Annual QBCC allowable turnover review and preparation of financial statements in conjunction with company accountant.

 Ideal candidate 

  • Business degree or equivalent
  • CPA qualified
  • Strong accounting experience within the property/ construction industry
  • High attention to detail
  • Tactical problem solver and out of the box thinker
  • Strong financial management reporting, forecasting, and financial modeling experience
  • Ability to work independently and provide strategic financial advice when required
  • Excellent stakeholders skills internal & external
  • Ability to handle high volumes of work
