Maintenance Fitter – Somersby

The opportunity 

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our established maintenance team at our Hebel manufacturing plant at Somersby. Reporting into the Engineering & Reliability Manager, your role is to provide effective maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to achieve agreed plant performance levels including availability, reliability, cost, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a Zero Harm safety culture and comply with Company Policies.
  • Consult and Work with others across the site to achieve results.
  • Ensuring a high standard of work done in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and repair breakdowns
  • Maintaining the standard of the workshop/stores
  • Ensuring personal licences etc. are kept up to date
  • Planning of maintenance tasks for shutdowns etc.
  • Actively participate and assist in equipment upgrades and installations
  • Supervision of contractors when allocated task
  • Working with and developing Asset Productivity Security Plans
  • Identification, design and implementation of reliability and productivity improvements
  • Review and development of maintenance work instructions
  • Identify and maintain the maintenance spare parts and consumable inventory
  • Participate in Toolbox Talks, actively taking part to resolve operational and WHSE issues

 Attributes for success:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role;
  • Trade Qualified in a Mechanical discipline;
  • Forklift Licence, High Risk Work Licences (Working at heights, Boom Lift, Confined Space, Dogging/Rigging)
  • Demonstrated safety knowledge and compliance in a manufacturing environment;
  • Ability to follow plans and schedules;
  • A high level of integrity and respect for others;
  • Sound problem solving abilities and strong attention to detail;
  • A proactive and flexible approach – nothing is a hassle for you!
  • Intermediate PC skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • SAP PM skills are merited;
  • Prior experience with stores and spares management will be highly regarded;
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities – lead by example in all aspects of role

Hours of Work

Day/Afternoon rotating shift with occasional night shifts as required. OT rates and Shift Allowances will apply.

  • Day Shift: Mon-Thurs: 06:00am – 02:00pm; Fri: 04:00am – 10:00am
  • Afternoon Shift: Mon-Thurs: 02:00pm – 10:00pm; Fri: 10:00am – 04:00pm
