Senior Structural Materials Engineer

Due to continued growth, our Bridges and Materials Technology team in Brisbane has a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Materials Engineer. This position offers a great variety of projects, and will see you involved in: -

  • Inspections and surveys of existing infrastructure, including condition/structural assessments, and Level 2 and 3 inspections of bridges, transport, marine, industrial, and major infrastructure
  • Undertaking and supervising site investigations involving the use of destructive and non-destructive testing
  • Diagnose existing issues identified during inspection and design remediation and management strategies
  • Provide technical expertise on jobs and contribute durability related inputs to overall remediation designs including concrete materials and mix design, specification, and contract management
  • Performing structural engineering design check of the remedial works, load rating of existing bridges. Contribute to business development, investigate project opportunities, and write proposals to win new work
  • Manage and deliver projects.
What You Will Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor’s degree qualifications in a structural or civil engineering field with minimum 10 years of post-graduation experience
  • Chartered engineer and RPEQ, or progressing towards completion
  • Proven experience and a sound understanding of current materials technologies as they relate to infrastructure e.g., concrete, steelwork, timber
  • Demonstrated experience in structural engineering design, asset integrity, inspection, diagnosis, remediation strategies and management of structures
  • Experience with Level 2 and 3 bridge inspection projects. Experience with TMR bridge load rating is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience in the management of engineering and investigation projects
  • You will be a genuine career professional in the Materials Technology field and a dedicated communicator at all levels with a genuine willingness to help others and strong time management skills to meet deadlines. Your high attention to detail, as well as your ability to prioritise workload and work under limited supervision, will be critical to your success.
This role is a full-time position designed to fulfil a key senior role within the Materials Technology team to support the development of graduate engineers and the team's existing Technical Directors.
