We are pleased to offer a number of superb opportunities for Structural Inspectors to work on a variety of projects which may include ports, mines & heavy industry. With a mix of site and some Mackay office-based work, you will use your structural engineering inspection experience to assist long-term clients in managing the continuing structural integrity of their major materials handling assets.

Here, you’ll be able to apply your engineering skills in a more hands-on manner and have a direct and tangible impact on the structural reliability and safety of our clients major structures including: conveyors, transfer towers, surge bins, bridges, offshore/marine structures, shiploaders, stackers/reclaimers, dump stations etc. You will be directly involved in managing structural integrity issues through the identification of structural defects.

This is an opportunity to obtain a vast amount of practical experience across multiple sites and apply your experience to provide engineering solutions to interesting structural integrity problems.

About You
We are seeking energetic structural engineers (BEng Civil/Structural or Mechanical) keen to be actively involved in inspection of major materials handling structures. The key prerequisites we seek are:

  • A positive & pro-active attitude to work with a strong work ethic
  • Strong verbal, aural and written english communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills, strong work ethic and safety focus
  • Demonstrated structural design exp. an advantage (preferably heavy industry/materials handling), or
  • Site project engineer exp. in a similar industry involved in structural projects or construction at an industrial type facility

The Opportunities
(1) Junior Structural Inspector. A recent graduate (0-5 years) with some site inspection experience (or looking to gain hands on site inspection and heavy industry experience), or
(2) Experienced Structural Inspector. Post graduate with 5-10 years+ engineering and demonstrated site inspection experience. You’ll have responsibility for inspection and reporting on the structural integrity of heavy industrial and materials handling structures and equipment.

Skills, experience and attributes

  • Structural steel & concrete inspection experience
  • Knowledge of structural steel & concrete design & analysis (preferred)
  • Experience with hands on site inspection work
  • Inspection exp. with heavy industrial structures, & materials handling equipment
  • Knowledge of AS1170, AS4100, AS3600 (AS4324.1 preferred)
  • Well developed verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Solid report writing skills
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
  • Be physically fit, able to work at heights and confined spaces
  • Reliable, punctual and conscientious

For the more senior role you will manage proposals, schedule work as well as liaise with clients and oversee the work and completed reports. RPEQ status is desirable for the Experienced Site Inspector role but not essential.

Qualifications must include a recognised degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
