Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Give your full commitment to HDR’s Values
  • Take active leadership towards safety with other staff members
  • Work across the teams to produce designs, reports and other associated project engineering work
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager
  • Carry out structural inspections of bridges, culverts and other structures as required under the supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager
  • Carry out structural analysis and design of structures
  • Attend meetings with clients and maintain a good working relationship with the clients, sub-consultants and sub-contractors;
  • Develop your engineering and delivery skills
  • Apply engineering techniques and procedures
  • Assist in the development of expressions of interest and tender submissions
  • Be a team player with ambition to learn, lead, develop and improve team members
  • Contribute to building a strong, diverse organisation that embraces inclusion with respect and appreciation for the value we each bring to our clients and to HDR
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering
  • 2-5+ years related or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
  • Exposure to and skills in the use of appropriate software applications and design tools e.g. Microstran, Space Gass etc;
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Highly motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including resources from other countries
  • Willingness to be accountable and responsible
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to work under pressure
